| Cape York is the most northerly tip of Australia and a long 4WD drive through some rugged sandy and wooded terrain. Definitely a trip for adventurers who don't like crowds and love solitude! Cape York is an unexplored wilderness with thousands of species of tropical birds, beautiful waterfalls, crocodiles and some of the most adventurous fishing you will find anywhere in the world. The national parks are rugged and wild, but the intrepid explorer will be rewarded with a rich experience of spectacular wildlife and amazing landscapes. Some of the country’s finest Aboriginal rock art, some of the most extensive and unusual in Australia, is found in the south near Laura. The best time to travel within the area is between June and November, as during the wet season all roads are cut off. |
